Capturing the Sweet Spirit of Texas: TX1015 Sweet Onion Day Proclamation in Weslaco

We recently had the pleasure of photographing the TX1015 Sweet Onion Day Proclamation in Weslaco, Texas for the City and South Texas Onion Committe

Celebrating Texas Agriculture

The Texas 1015 Sweet Onion was developed right here in Weslaco at Texas A&M AgriLife. October 15 marks the ideal planting date, which is why the city and onion industry officially recognize it as TX1015 Sweet Onion Day. This special proclamation honors local farmers and the famous sweet onion that is now the official State Vegetable of Texas.

The event brought together city leaders, farmers, and community members to celebrate South Texas agriculture and build excitement for the annual Texas Onion Fest.

Our Photos from the Day

We captured key moments including:

  • The official proclamation reading

  • Community leaders and organizers

  • Fresh onions on display and candid shots of the celebration

These images help preserve the event and showcase the pride of the Rio Grande Valley.
